Valuation Fees

If you would like us to provide a valuation of your jewellery, you will be asked to sign our Privacy Statement and agree to our take-in explanatory notes and limiting conditions, which are the standard notes and limiting conditions of the Jewellery Valuers Association or the NAJ’s Institute of Registered Valuers, occasionally edited for specific circumstances.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

If you would like CLW Jewellery Appraisals to provide a valuation of your jewellery, you will be asked to sign a Privacy Statement and agree to our take-in notes and Terms & Conditions. These are based on the standard notes and limiting conditions of the Jewellery Valuers Association or the NAJ Institute of Registered Valuers and may be adapted where appropriate for specific circumstances.
We kindly ask clients to pay particular attention to item IX of our Terms & Conditions.

Valuation Fees

(For Insurance, Probate, Private Treaty and other purposes)

  • Standard one-off document fee: £85

  • Per standard item, or group of up to five lower-value items: £65
    Items valued at approximately £500 or under may be grouped as ‘miscellaneous’ and treated as a single item.

  • Diamonds over 1 carat: £65 per carat

  • Coloured gemstones larger than 12mm × 9mm (oval or rectangular) or 10mm diameter (round or square):£130 per item
    These dimensions equate to approximately 3.0 carats for emeralds or 5.0 carats for sapphires and rubies.

  • Complex items containing more than 100 diamonds and/or gemstones: £130 per item

Exceptional items, such as tiaras, parures, or civic regalia, are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Please contact CLW Jewellery Appraisals for a bespoke quotation.

All valuations are presented in a high-quality bound folder and include digital images of each item, together with a detailed description covering stone weights and dimensions, hallmark details, gross weight, and current value.
